Town Hall Memorial
The Town Hall is also a memorial to those men who lost their lives in World War One. In 1919 Isaac and Harriet Jackson purchased the the Town Hall, Market Hall and the market rights from Lord Howard and presented them to Glossop Borough Council in honour of those who served. This is marked by a bronze plaque on the front of the building.
Isaac Jackson owned Jackson’s Belt Fasteners at Hawkshead Works. During World War One Isaac Jackson developed reliable shell detonators and manufactured them at the Hawkshead Works.
