Preserving Material
We hold an extensive archive of documents, photographs, ephemera and artefacts that have been collected for over 60 years. We store and preserve these important records of Glossop’s past, so there are not lost and available for the future.
The Trust has received a significant number of documents in recent years, which were part of the collection of Glossop and District Historical Society (which has now merged with the Trust). We also regularly receive donations of local interest from individuals.
Our volunteers are sorting and cataloguing these documents and helping to make the information contained within them available for research and publication. We share many of Glossop’s stories on our website and Facebook.
The Blue Plaque Scheme
The Trust have been operating a Blue Scheme since 2014 and have placed five Blue Plaques around Glossop. You will find more details of the Blue Plaque Scheme here.
Talks and Walks
We normally run free walks and talks throughout the year. Details of events in 2024 will be publicised when confirmed on our news page and Facebook.
Assisting Local Groups and the Community
The Trust works with various local community groups and organisations, giving talks and assisting with research. In the last year we have worked with schools, scout group, Friends of Victoria Hall, Glossop Library, Reuben’s Retreat and Glossop Creates projects. If you would like any more information about this work, please contact us.
