There are memorials to those who lost their lives in World War One and World War Two at St James’ Church, Whitfield.
World War One 1914-1918
The Lychgate at St James’ Church was dedicated on Saturday 10th November 1923 by the Bishop of Southwell.

Noah Burford is named on this memorial but not on Glossop Cenotaph. Noah returned from the war with several injuries, which left him disabled. He died in 1922 and was buried in Glossop Cemetery after a service at St James’.
